Happy Belly Drink

I tried drinking warm water with lemon in the mornings, but it just didn’t fit with my body. I liked the idea of the warm water with lemon as it is so good for the body, so I came up with something that fit my body better. I actually used this combination a few months back when I was sick, mixed in with some Traditional Medicinals tea. Not only is this combo a great immune booster, but it had the amazing side effect of balancing my digestive system! If you are familiar with Ayurveda, I’m Pitta dominant, especially when it comes to digestion. This combo, taken everyday, works better than any probiotic I’ve ever tried, and I’ve tried more than a handful.

  • 1 TBSP Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar (commonly referred to as ACV)
  • 1 TBSP Aloe Vera Juice (Inner Fillet)
  • 1/2 tsp or more of honey
  • 4oz or more of warm, filtered water

A few notes…. Bragg’s ACV is THE best, IMO. It’s organic, unfiltered, and has “The Mother” which is a protein enzyme. Not only that, but Bragg is a smaller company not owned by a big corporation like Heinz.

I buy my Aloe Vera at Super Supplements, and yes, they have smaller bottles. The staff there are always so kind and knowledgable. Don’t be afraid to ask questions.

The honey pictured is not raw, local, or organic unfortunately. I bought it in a pinch when I didn’t want to make a 2nd stop with my toddler in tow. Not only is it better for the planet and your town when you buy raw, local, and organic, but the honey is a better quality. When you buy raw, local honey you are getting pollen in the honey that, when eaten, can help prevent seasonal allergies.

I rarely drink tap water. There’s just way too much chlorine and other seriously undesirable things in it. We use a PUR filter on our kitchen faucet (but I’d buy a Berky if I could!) and I boil the water before adding it to my cup. I say warm water so it melts the honey. You can always add more water!

Lastly, if you are unfamiliar with ACV, it can be quite strong. Over the past 4 years I’ve been slowly weaning myself off sugar. I started by slowly lowering the amount of sugar I add to my coffee and tea. Now I have quite a low tolerance for sugar so I don’t add much honey. Because of this, the ACV is quite strong, just a heads up!
